Fall/Winter BASEBALL clinics for our younger players age 7-12 years old SPLIT BY AGE GROUP.

We will be running the clinic series 2x this year splitting over the New Year the sessions (Fall/Winter and Winter.

We will be utilizing the terrific set of coaches that train players at the facility and coach league and travel programs as well as some of our collegiate level coaches.

All aspects of baseball fundamentals will be covered during these sessions with an age specific emphasis for each group. Focus will range from hitting instruction with the tremendous capabilities that Hitz Ithaca brings, including pitching machines (Iron Mike, Zooka, EHack Attack, Swing Away MVP Trainers, etc.), fielding mechanics, throwing and receiving, pitching and catching (defendant on age and catchers in the group), conditioning. Each session will be designed around the needs of each age group and what they will experience in league play at their levels. Parents, we hope that you find the location to be much more convenient than in prior years and the instruction received will be from some of the best instructors of the game.

For our older group more emphasis will be placed on hitting development, pitching and catching dependent on catchers (dependent on interested catchers) to focus more on the skills to build their confidence, develop routines and skills to be more effective with more advanced baseball requirements.

Younger Players Age 7 – 8 will attend from 10:00 am – 11:00 am , and older Players Ages 9-12 will attend from 11:30 am – 12:45pm pm on the following Saturdays:
• Fall/Winter Dates are: OCT 26 – NOV 2,9,16, 23, 30, DEC 7
• Note: Ideal for Players from IYB Kiwanis Baseball, Cal Ripken or Little League.

Cost will be $150-$175 per player, all registrations must be done on-line.

6 Week intensive Catchers Clinic for INTRODUCTORY TO INTERMEDIATE Level Catchers. Focus will be given on measuring, training and improving catchers effective skills. This is a great clinic for new Catchers as well as Catchers that has been catching for 2-3 years + and have a grasp of the position OR those NEW to catching with the desire to become a catcher. It will be a great series designed to really build your catcher’s skills and the love for the position.

Video Analysis will be used during this these sessions to provide player feedback and measurable metrics to advance players skills.

**Dates For Clinic Program: Oct 21, 28, Nov 4, 11, 18, 25 – 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

We will also offer single session clinic breakouts if a catcher cannot make the entire series.
Focus of Clinics, Group and Individual Sessions:
Soft Skills: This will emphasize what the role of every catcher is prior to stepping behind plate. The focus will be on relationships with pitchers, managing the game, understanding batters and establishing leadership qualities, winning attitude and positive team culture.
Hard Skills: This area covers aspects related to the proper mechanics of catching and allows every catcher the ability to improve their game. They include but are not limited to:
a. Stance and Set Up: (3 catching positions)
b. Framing and Receiving

f. Passed Balls

Training Drills: “Where the rubber meets the road.” Catchers will learn and perform drills that will enhance both their physical capacity, as well as, their performance outcomes. They will be introduced and encouraged to practice and on a daily bases in order to train both the mind and muscles to perform the proper mechanics reflexively and efficiently in order to be game ready. Drill will cover, but be limited to, the skill sets listed below.

By the end of each clinic every catcher will have the opportunity to develop a sustainable individualized program that they will be able to use to improve their game, making them a more valued member of any team and increasing playing opportunities.

HitTrax / Coaches Eye Metrics:
Using our new HitTrax or Coaches Eye video analysis system, with our Catchers Module, we will capture key metrics and video of each catchers performance and report back instant information relative to Pop Times, Ball Velocity, Accuracy in both the Horizontal and Vertical Plane for throw downs, Timed Throw downs and player steal simulations. This system to HitZ will visually illustrate each athletes performance and metrics for their viewing and enhanced coaching while capturing key metrics such as Transfer and Pop times, ball velocity, throw down accuracy, effective receiving zones, etc. The player gains a great deal by watching back their video.

These sessions are ideal for our younger players or those new to catching altogether.

8 Week intensive Catchers Clinic for INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED Level Catchers. Focus will be given on advancing beyond Level I Catching Series while measuring, training and improving catchers effective skills to a degree to allow for more advanced skills development. Catchers taking this clinic will advance significantly over their previous skill level of Intro to intermediate level catchers as this clinic series is designed to expand your abilities and knowledge as a team catcher. Players having 3 years CATCHING experience or more ideally will benefit from this series as this will advance on skills learned from our Introductory / Intermediate series or catchers that have caught for 3 plus years.

***IF UNSURE IF THIS IS THE CORRECT CLINIC SERIES FOR YOUR ATHLETE WE RECOMMEND A CATCHERS EVALUATION BE DONE AND SCHEDULED PRIOR TO START OF CLINIC SERIES. COACH ACKERMAN WILL EVALUATE AND DOCUMENT YOUR ATHLETES CATCHING ABILITIES FOR PROPER PLACEMENT. AS WITH ANY OF OUR EVALUATIONS YOU WILL RECEIVE A VERY THOROUGH SESSION WRITE-UP.

HITZ PITCHING DEVELOPMENT CLINIC – INTRODUCTORY / INTERMEDIATE

Ideal for our younger and newer to Pitching athletes wanting to become a pitcher or a more effective pitcher.

-Prepare for Spring Season and develop your Pitching Skills
-6 week clinic, single 1hr session per week
-OCT 24 (OFF 31ST), NOV 7, 14, 21 (NO 28th), DEC 5, 12
-Thursday Nights 6:30 – 7:30pm
– Group instruction with individual focus for each pitcher
– Each session will progress to different aspects of throwing/pitching mechanics and strategy
– Video Analysis work will be conducted over the course of the clinic series using our new Rapsodo Pitching Monitor System.
In this clinic, you will be getting instruction in:
– The basics of arm and body care/flexibility – keeping your body & arm healthy and in peak pitching condition.
– Important drills and warm up strategies to help encourage consistent, effective mechanics.
– The most important tenets of throwing and pitching mechanics from the time you grip the ball through the time the ball crosses the plate.

Goals of Program:
1.Gradual and structured conditioning of players arm and body to be “game ready” by spring
2.Learn proper pitching fundamentals and mechanics
3. Learn command and control
4. Acquire secondary pitches
5. Work on the Mental Game (Thinking like a pitcher)
Sessions:
1. Proper full body warm up and arm care protocol. Lower body mechanics, leading with the hip, explosive back leg drive, proper front foot landing.
2. Fastball grips, arm swing, release point and follow through.
3. Pitching from the stretch, holding runners on base, pick off moves.
4. PFP’s (Pitching fielding practice). Covering first base, backing up, being the “fifth infielder”.
5. Secondary pitches, (curve, cutter, slider). Easy on the arm drills to learn/ improve secondary pitches.
6. The Mental Game: simulated counts and situations, game strategy, pitching “backward in the count”, ways to remain focused and handle game pressure and recover from setbacks.
All sessions will include supervised bullpens (pitching off a mound) to gradually build up arm strength and avoid early season “dead arm syndrome “ and injury.

-Prepare for Spring Season while there is time to develop your Pitching Skills.
-Ideal for not only our younger players but any of those preparing for Travel Programs, Advanced League, Scholastic Ball and Practices as we will cover items school most programs do not. Arm safe training of key importance.

-Tuesday Nights 7:00 – 8:00pm (if more than 6 players we will may extend to 1.5 hours and run till 8:30pm)
– Group instruction with individual focus for each pitcher
– Each session will progress to different aspects of throwing/pitching mechanics and strategy
– More emphasis placed on developing secondary pitches and pitch variety
– Developing more speed and control with safety of arm in mind.
– Video Analysis work will be conducted over the course of the clinic series with our new Rapsodo Pitching Monitor System.
